Inpatient services
Physiotherapy
The Chartered Physiotherapist team assesses patients before employing a range of treatment modalities - from hands on techniques through to electrotherapy. They aim to improve joint movement, reduce pain and build muscle strength. In addition to enhancing the healing process the objective is to increase mobility and promote functional independence.
Rehabilitation
A bespoke personal exercise programme is developed that complements the active therapy and helps to ensure that goals set are achieved.
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy
is proven to be a safe and effective treatment in accelerating the rate
of recovery and is the perfect therapeutic solution for those who may
not be so physically able on dry land. The buoyancy, support, and the
resistance of water enhanced exercises create a safe environment for
rehabilitation. The pool, heated to a comfortable 36°C and complete with
automated hoist to aid entry and exit, reduces gravity to one seventh
when a patient is immersed, facilitating exercise techniques that
provide both resistance and support. The temperature of the water
prompts muscle relaxation, facilitates stretching and generally helps
reduce the sensation of pain.
Occupational therapy
The OT team will assess, identify and treat individual difficulties associated with daily living and be prominent in ensuring that a safe discharge to your home can be achieved. This may include an in-home assessment with recommendations on how to improve the physical environment.
